Az po druhom vypocuti som patral po tom, preco to hra tak hrozne a co som nasiel na strankach MOFI ma uplne odrovnalo.
Citujem - The mixes on this MOFI release were done by band leader Dave Mustaine himself, the way the band wanted the listener to originally enjoy it.

To v podstate znamena, ze Mofi zremastrovalo tu hnusnu remastrovanu a remixovanu verziu Megadethu, ktora sa teraz predava v obchodoch miesto krasne zmixovanej a metalovo znejucej povodnej verzii, ta nova verzia je proste tak hnusna, ze by som si ju nekupil ani keby som mal v sebe celu flasku martini, k...a, to som sa vytocil....

A este posledna pripomienka k tomu 2LP Megadeth, nechapem, preco ked uz to je na 2LP to neurobili ako 45RPM, ked 1/3 kazdej strany je nevyuzita. Bohuzial toto je prve MFSL, ktore ma vobec, ale vobec nebavi, a to som sa tak na to tesil

ztráta makrodynamiky je zcela jasný a vítězný trend současnosti. její úbytek je nahrazován hlavně zde tak opěvovaným podáním "prostoru". klíčovými slovy jsou reverb (echo, hall...) a normalizace ((hard)limiter, expander...). nejdříve to začalo u filmů: hrdina s hrdinkou, piloti stíhaček, kteří před chvílí zmasakrovali hromady zlých teroristů, si na palubě letadlové lodi špitají zamilovaná slůvka, zatímco za jejich zády startujou jejich bratři ve zbrani do další akce. "víš Peggy, zachránilas mi život." "ale Johne, jsme přece tým..." - - - slyšeli jste někdy startovat stíhačku?
nyní už je to i čistě v audio nahrávkách (dokonce i u klasické hudby). obrovitý prostor podepřený basovými syntetizéry na úkor rozdílu mezi tichými a hlasitými pasážemi skladeb. nejsem úplným odpůrcem tohoto trendu. ale musí se to umět. když se to přehání je výsledkem neuvěřitelná, mrtvě nehybná nuda...

Nalial som si vynimocne bacardi s kokosovym mliekom, smotankou a ananasovym dzusom pretrepany spolu s ladom....a bola to teda jazda, najskor nemastne neslane, cele nejake bez stavy, ale pri Midlife Crisis (treti song), mi doslo, ze koncak je este studensi ako moja druha pinacolada, tak som zdvihol ramienko a nechal vsetky tri zosilovace ohriat do prevadzkovej teploty a zacal som znovu...no a bolo z toho famozna MFSL nahravka s mojou oblubenou kapelou, proste parada!!!!Dal som obe LP 3x a mam za to, ze som FNM v takejto forme este nepocul *bravo* *bravo* *bravo* , za taketo veci rad utracam svoje korunky.
Iba jedna vyhrada, tie novsie obaly od MFSL sa mi pravidelne nicia pri zalozeni LP a neni to tym, ze by som bol uz fakt na mol, ale proste ich robia nejake tensie a vnutorny obal spolu s tou reklamou, co prikladaju je proste tak masivna, ze k poruseniu obalu proste musi dojst...
Este posledna vec, LP od MFSL su vzdy z limitovanej edicie, ale nikdy som sa nedozvedel, kolko ich vyrabaju, na FNM je to konecne napisane, je to 3000Ks (ja mam 801)

Nechal jsem to nějaký čas uležet, ale vnímám to furt stejně.

MFSL mi přijdou hodně nabasované, dělané tak jakoby "na efekt". Na první poslech je to efektní, ale když to posloucháte delší dobu, je to dost otravné, strašně jako by tlačené/hrnuté dopředu. Na delší poslech je to únavné. Mám jen málo XRCD ve své fonotéce, byť mi jich prošlo rukama spousta ....

XRCD mi přijdou naproti tomu daleko daleko lepší, stačí si vzít taková alba japonských jazzmanů, to je mňamka poslouchat. Navíc docela nedávno jsem dostal XRCD do ruky a to je i radost na to koukat, jak je to pěkně v papírové krabičce. Holt i hraní z PC má nějaké ty mouchy :)

SHM-CD. Několikrát padl názor, že SHM-CD jsou jen jiný materiál média, což si ale nemyslím. Musí v tom být i jiný mastering. Stačí si vzít třeba (hifisty ak oblíbené) album The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. Měl jsem jak klasickou CD verzi, tak MFSL, tak SHM-CD. Každé hrálo jinak, přičemž SHM-CD mi přijde výrazně nejlepší. Jakto, kdyby to byl jen jiný materiál média?

Pokud je výchozím materiálem hotová digitální nahrávka ve formátu CD, tj. 1644, tak jediné, co se s ní dá dělat, je přidání dozvuku, úprava stereofonního obrazu a úprava spektra, tj. korekce frekvenční charakteristiky. Taková korekce může být buďto statická, tj. pevná nezávisle na signálu, anebo dynamická, tj. závislá na úrovni signálu popř. úrovni v různých frekvenčních pásmech. Těmito způsoby se dá nahrávce dost subjektivně pomoci i ublížit a použitelnost výsledku hodně závisí na vkusu posluchače. Speciálním případem je širokopásmová komprese nebo expanze dynamiky. Případné potlačení šumu v podstatě spadá také do této kategorie - zeslabují se ty oblasti spektra, o kterých se dá předpokládat, že už neobsahují žádný užitečný signál. Samozřejmě se dá čarovat i s nelineárními úpravami, takové to generování chybějících harmonických (excitery a podobné efekty), ale ty jsou zpravidla hodně problematické, i když některé nahrávky mohou učinit poněkud zvukově zajímavějšími.

Pokud je k dispozici hotová nahrávka s větším rozlišením, tj. např. 2496, dá se ledacos udělat s konverzí do 1644 - např. použití lepšího ditheru apod. Je zajímavé, že JVC tvrdí, že při ditherování XRCD nepoužívají noise-shaping, ale pokud jsem měl možnost analyzovat nějaké XRCD nahrávky, tak podstatný rozdíl oproti běžným CD byl právě v použití speciálního a velmi radikálního noise-shapingu.

Ještě víc se samozřejmě dá čarovat, když je k dispozici originální annalogový master-tape. Platí v podstatě totéž, co při práci s digitálem 2496 apod., s tím rozdílem, že se dá ohlídat kvalita AD - převodu. Jakmile je totiž signál zdigitalizován, už se toho moc zachránit nedá a nějaké řeči na téma potlačení jitteru apod. jsou jen obchodní žvásty.

Nejlepší je, když je k dispozici originální vícestopý záznam. Pak se ale většinou nemluví o remasteringu, nýbrž o remixingu. Tam se toho dá udělat opravdu hodně - k lepšímu i k horšímu.

Spousta SACD nahrávek jsou jen prachobyčejné konverze z CD formátu do DSD. Zdali byl signál před konverzí nějak vylepšován, to je otázka. Já se v současné době bavím experimenty s remasteringem CD přes formát 2496 s potlačením kvantizačního šumu a reditherováním a některé výsledky jsou docela zajímavé. Možná vymyslím nějaký nový formát, bude se to asi jmenovat VBCD.

Jen tak mimochodem, když se dělá digitalizace analogového signálu z pásku, tak se s ditherem vlastně ani nemusí moc čarovat, poněvadž jako ditherovací signál poslouží vlastní šum pásku, kterýž je navíc spektrálně tvarovaný tak, že jsou v něm zpravidla poněkud zdůrazněné nejvyšší frekvence, což odpovídá některým typům noise-shapingu. To je možná jeden z důvodů, proč AAD a ADD nahrávky dosti často znějí docela příjemně, i když šumí - aspoň dle mé zkušenosti. U XRCD a v poslední době i u běžných CD jsem se setkal s tím, že v signálu bylo poměrně výrazné pásmo šumu v rozmezí cca 18 až 22 kHz, přičemž amplituda šumu byla dost vysoká. Z hlediska měřeného odstupu šumu to nevypadá nejlépe, ovšem jako šum už to slyšet není a ditherovací efekt je velmi výrazný - dochází k totálnímu rozmělnění korelovaných zbytků z digitalizace, což je další příznivý efekt - IMHO hlavní technický fór XRCD.
